Post-patch Design Update

Today’s patch addresses a substantial list of changes and fixes reported by our community. Here are a few additional words of commentary from our Product Director on the most important updates.


Let me start with a thank you note – we’ve been quite overwhelmed with tons of very valuable feedback – even if critical! – and are already thinking on how to improve the game before we go global. It’s been quite a ride, tbh we never expected so many of you will join, already over 10000 players registered for alpha – and we thought we will have like 3-4k tops… As you know, we have deployed a patch that addresses some issues and I’d like to take this opportunity to comment on most important ones and say a few words on some often-reported issues we have not addressed – YET.

Energy Rebalance

There’s approximately 2 times more hunting available daily than before the patch:

  • Energy refresh rate up by 50%,
  • Additional 25 energy from daily tasks,
  • Cheaper energy in the market (I recommend getting at least the 25-gems one),
  • Completing HG mastery Tiers gives bonus energy.

Resource/Progression

We adjusted HG drop (decreased reward per playthrough to match the increased play rate) – the intention here is to give you more playing, but keep overall resource economy ~untouched. The progression speed of some of you was quite surprising for us and faster than we anticipated… This is something to carefully consider after Alpha, for now we decided not to make changes hastily.

Bohdan Nerf

This one was a fail big time, wasn’t it? There were 2 factors actually:

  • The boosts from fallen/missing allies were too big
  • A bug giving Bohdan +20% Counter Rate per missing ally, while the skill upgrade said +10%

Both things are fixed now. The intention is that he performs very well in undersized squads, but does not break the game.

Overall Level of Challenge

Void Hunters is intended to be a tactical, challenging experience. While you can (almost) always overpower enemies, we will incentivize thoughtful, tactical play, both on meta team-building level as well as in-combat execution. This may feel different than some games which you might have played – this is our intention. We are aware this may appeal to some players while may be discouraging to others. Still, for us, this is the way.

Character Resets

While this feature will not make it to this Alpha and is somewhat tricky considering our collection building strategy, we are carefully listening to the feedback and will be discussing this after Alpha to come up with the solution that is both in-line with our vision and addresses the needs of the player community.

Collection Building in Alpha

As you may have noticed, some characters are more useful than others in this Alpha. While sometimes a balance issue, to some extent this is by design. Some characters just need more synergical allies or new pieces of content allowing them to shine, which is also a reason some Faction Tags may seem less viable for now. We will take a closer look and iterate on them after Alpha, but first and foremost we will add more characters/synergies that should create new interesting setups and tactics.

Also, it is indeed reasonable to build Archlands and Seasoned teams early in the game, with a Holy Order team coming shortly after. With that in mind though, each character has their uses and there’s really no single way of a perfect start; lets keep in mind this game is intended to be a marathon rather than a sprint – you can easily catch up, really! Of course, there is so much more in your feedbacks; rest assured we consider all of it, even if it does not make it to a post like this one!

On a last note, we’re seeing quite a lot of account resets. While this is understandable especially in Alpha, we encourage you to try just playing the game; you will be able to get much more resources later in the game and there will be plenty of opportunities to test different team setups.
